HISTORIC HEIGHTS KITCHEN
In this complete renovation of a 1906 San Francisco kitchen, Larkspur Builders collaborated closely with the homeowner and interior designer Chantal Lamberto to create a space that is both timeless and highly functional. The goal was to modernize a dated layout while respecting the home’s architectural character.
With a compact footprint and 11-foot ceilings, the design required careful proportioning. Custom white oak cabinetry, handmade tile, and period-inspired lighting created a warm and balanced ambiance. Floor-to-ceiling tile and flush cabinet faces necessitated precise coordination, particularly in a space without an architect on the team.
Subtle transitions—such as custom-milled trim and carefully reinstalled original flooring—maintain visual continuity between old and new. A sculptural peninsula with open shelving and integrated seating anchors the space, while a built-in dog nook adds a personal touch. Executed under tight timelines for a growing family, the completed kitchen reflects careful planning, high-quality materials, and a solid design-build partnership.
