ROSS ADU

Set within a two-acre property that also includes a historic barn, main residence, and pool house, this 1,000-square-foot accessory dwelling unit smoothly integrates into a quiet redwood grove for privacy while remaining connected to the larger site. Since the location is low on the property, the structure is raised three feet above the floodplain for added resilience. The design draws from the property’s vernacular, with simple gable massing, vertical Western Red Cedar siding, and a trellis for sun protection, making the ADU seem like it has always belonged here.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar beams showcase the structure and add warmth; large doors and a wraparound deck enhance outdoor living. Compact, durable, and calm, the ADU functions well as a guest house or long-term rental - an independent, appropriately sized home nestled among the trees.
